CARNAVAL DE VERANO by Lydia Aguado

THE SUMMER CARNIVAL

This summer there will be a big Carnival on Saturday 25th July in Dueñas.

The summer carnival begins at 8.30 in the vening, in the street Virgen de Onecha.
There will be a parade to the Square.

They will give us orejuelas and fizzy drinks and, in some pubs, they will give us a ticket to participate in the draw of a trip for two people to Portugal.

Este verano habrá un gran carnaval el sábado 25 de julio en Dueñas.
El carnaval de verano empieza a las 8.30 de la tarde en la calle Virgen de Onecha. Habrá un desfile a la plaza y nos darán orejuelas y refrescos y en algunos pubs, nos darán un ticket para participar en un sorteo de un viaje para dos personas a Portugal.

TROUT DAY IN DUEÑAS.

On Sunday 19th July, it was the Trout Day.
They gave small bites or canapés of trout.

They gave the food in the Council House and they gave a glass of wine too.

There were a lot of people and it was sunny.

El doming 10 de julio fue el día de la Trucha.
Dieron canapes de trucha.
Dieron la comida en el ayuntamiento y dieron un vaso de vino también.
Había mucha gente e hizo calor.

ALBERTO CONTADOR ES EL NÚMERO UNO by Lucia Escudero.

ALBERTO CONTADOR IS THE NUMBER ONE.

Alberto Contador won the first mountain race last Sunday and he became the number one in the Tour of France.

Alberto Contador was the strongest. He attacked 5,6 km before the top of the mountain and nobody could follow him.

This afternoon there is a race of 159 km with two big mountains, Grand Saint-Bernard and Petit Saint-Bernard. The finishing line is after 24km downhill.

This year the Tour of France is very exciting because there are three good runners: Alberto Contador, Carlos Sastre and Lance Armstrong.

Alberto Contador won the Tour in 2007 but he couldn't run in 2008. Carlos Sastre won the Tour in 2008, and Lance Armstong won the Tour seven times and then he retired. Now Lance wants to win the Tour again. The race this afternoon is very important for the final result.



ALBERTO CONTADOR ES EL NUMERO UNO.
Alberto Contador ganó la primera carrera de montaña el pasado domingo y se convirtió en el número uno del Tour de Francia.
Alberto Contador fue el más fuerte. Atacó 5,6 km antes de la cima de la montaña y nadie pudo seguirle.
Esta tarde hay una carrera de 159km con dos grandes montañas, Grand Saint-Bernard y Petit Saint-Bernard. La meta está después de 24km de descenso.
Este año el Tour de Francia esta muy emocionante porque hay 3 buenos corredores: Alberto Contador, Carlos Sastre y Lance Armstrong.
Alberto Contador ganó el Tour en 2007 pero el no pudo correr en el 2008. Carlos Sastre ganó el Tour en el 2008 y Lance Armstrong granó el Tour 7 veces y luego se retiró. Ahora Lance quiere ganar el Tour otra vez. La carrera de esta tarde es muy importante para el resultado final.

FRUIT SALAD... for the summer.

Ingredients: bananas, oranges, apples, pears, pineapple, peaches, melon and water melon.

Wash and cut. Mix together and serve.

MACEDONIA... para el verano.
Ingredientes: platanos, naranjas, manzanas, peras, piña, melocotones, melón y sandía.
Lavar y cortar. Mezclar junto y servir.

ON HOLIDAYS IN .....NORTH CAMP (ASTURIAS)

L.E.G. is 12 years old.
She went to the North Camp in Asturias.
She went there with her friends. She was there for 10 days.
She slept in a tent.
She did activities in the open air.

Her favourite activity was the Ateneo: all the children met at 8.oo o'clock in the evening. They spoke about their activities.
Her favourite food was the fruit.
The beach was her favourite place.
She wanted to go to Gijón but she couldn't.
She wants to return next year.


DE VACACIONES EN CAMPAMENTO NORTE
LEG tiene 12 años. Fue al Campamento Norte en Asturias. Fue con sus amigas. Estuvo allí durante 10 días. Durmió en una tienda. Realizó actividades al aire libre.
Su actividad favorita fue el Ateneo: todos los niños se reunían a las 8 de la tarde y hablaban de sus actividades.
Su comida favorita era la fruta. La playa era su lugar favorito. Quería ir a Gijón pero no pudo. Quiere volver el año próximo.

It is organized by "The Retired People's Home".
The bus will go at 9.00 in the morning.
The price is 14€ and you have to carry your food.

If there are fee seats you can come with us although you aren't a member.

ON HOLIDAYS IN ... BUGEDO by Lucia Escudero
Lucia interviews NGM about her summer holidays.

N.G.M. is eleven. She went to Bugedo (in Asturias) with her friends for ten days. She slept in a Monastery and they did a lot of activities in the open air.


She loved:
- the water games.
- the macarroni salad.
- the forest in Bugedo: at night the children walked to the forest and their teachers frightened them with dolls and water balloons. It was fantastic!!!

She wanted to swim in the river but she couldn't because it was dangerous.
She wants to return and she would recommend this summer camp to all her friends.


DE VACACIONES EN ...BUGEDO.
NGM tiene 11 años. Estuvo Bugedo (en Asturias) con sus amigos durante 10 días. Durmió en un monasterio e hicieron muchas actividades al aire libre.
A ella le encantó:
- los juegos de agua.
- la ensalada de macarrones.
- el bosque de Bugedo: por la noche los niños caminaban al bosque y sus profesores les asustaban con muñecos y globos de agua. ¡¡¡Fue fantastico!!!
Ella quería nadar en el rio pero no pudieron porque era peligroso.
NGM quiere volver y ella recomendaría este campamento de verano a todos sus amigos.

JUANA LA LOCA LLEGA A TORQUEMADA by Ana Gil

JUANA "THE MAD QUEEN" ARRIVES IN TORQUEMADA.

This weekend we can see Juana "The Mad Queen" in Torquemada for third year beside the hearse of ther husband Philip "The Handsome".

The activities will begin in the Isabelino Park on Saturday at noon with a Middle-Age market with more than ten stalls.

At 13.00 and at 18.30 there is magic in the streets.

At 22.30 the theatre will begin: Juana the first of Castilla and her husband Philip arrive in Torquemada. First, the entrance across the bridge. Second, the arrival in Torquemada. Third, the birth of Catalina of Austria. Finally, the queen will say goodbye.

On Sunday the market will continue and it will finish at 22.00 hours.



JUANA LA LOCA LLEGA A TORQUEMADA.
Este fin de semana podemos ver a Juana La Loca en Torquemada por tercer año junto con el fenetro de su marido Felipe el Hermoso.
Las actividades empezarán en la Parque Isabelino el sábado a mediodía, con un mercado medieval con más de 10 puestos.
A las 13.00 y a las 18.30 hay magia en las calles.
A las 22.30 comenzará el teatro: Juana primera de Castilla y su marido Felipe llegan a Torquemada. Primero, la entrada cruzando en puente. Segundo, la llegada a Torquemada. Tercero, el nacimiemto de Catalina de Austria. Finalmente, la reina dirá adios.
El domingo el mercado continuará y terminará a las 22.00.

THE DIOCESAN MUSEUM OPENS AT NIGHT by Isabel Bujidos.

The Diocesan Museum in Palencia has a special timetable for the summer:

- in the morning from 10.00 to 13.30 hours.
- in the evening from 16.30 to 19.30 hours.
- at night: on Friday and Saturday from 1st July to 15th September. Two guided tours at 22.00 and 22.30 hours. There are guided tours in English too.

The Museum is closed on Monday.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES IN THE MUSEUM OF THE ROMAN VILLAS IN ALMENARA-PURAS by Beatriz Yustos.

The Museum of the Roman Villas offers guided tours to the Roman house.

The Museum of the Roman Villas in Almenara-Puras has got important mosaics, a Roman house, an exhibition of Roman mosaics and a playground.

ACTIVIDADES DE VERANO EN EL MUSEO DE LAS VILLAS ROMANA EN ALMENARA-PURAS. El Museo de las Villas Romanas ofrece visitas guiadas a la casa romana. El Museo de las Villas Romanas en Almenara-Puras tiene importantes mosaicos, una casa romana, una exposición de mosaicos romanos y una zona de juego. EL TREN "VERRACO" SALE DE VENTA DE BAÑOS by Pablo Ochagvías

THE TRAIN "VERRACO" runs from Venta de Baños again by Pablo Ochagavías.
The train "Verraco" will run between Venta de Baños and Fromista next 9th August. Other trips will be on 23rd August, on 5th September and on 12th September.

The train is driven by the steam engine "Verraco" from the 19th century. It pulls a wooden wagon for goods and four carriages to carry people in 1950s.

The train will arrive in Fromista like four years ago. There, we can see this train and enjoy a welcome party.

We must say that this is posible thanks to "The Venteña Association of Friends of the Railway" that worked for 6 years before the first trip of the train "Verraco" in 2005.


EL TREN "VERRACO" SALE DE VENTA DE BAÑOS DE NUEVO.
El tren "Verraco" circulará entre Venta de Baños y Frómista el próximo 9 de Agosto. Otros viajes serán el 23 de agosto, el 5 de septiembre y el 12 de septiembre.
El tren esta conducido por una máquina de vapor "Verraco" del siglo XIX. Tira de un vagón de madera para mercancías y cuatro vagones para personas de los años 50.
El tren llegará a Frómista igual que hace cuatro años. Alli, podemos ver este tren y disfrutar de una fiesta de bienvenida.
Debemos decir que esto es posible gracias a "La Asociación Venteña de Amigos del Ferrocarril" que trabajó durante 6 años antes del primer viaje del tren "Verraco" en el 2005.

LOS SANFERMINES by Lydia Aguado and Ana Gil

THE SANFERMINES by Lydia Aguado.

The Sanfermines are a very popular festival in Pamplona.
The people wear white clothes with a red scarf.
There are a lot of people from a lot of coutries: Canada, France, England,...
They began on Tuesday, 7th July.

The most important part of the festival is the bull running. The first day of bull running was normal because the bulls didn't hurt anybody. On Saturday the bulls hit three people, hurt six people and one of them died. On Sunday the bulls hurt one person and broke his clothes.



Los Sanfermines son una fiesta muy popular en Pamplona.
La gente lleva ropa blanca con un pañuelo rojo.
Hay gente de mucho paises: Canada, Francia, Inglaterra,...
Empezaron el martes día 7 de julio.
La parte más importante del festival son los encierros. El primer día de encierros fue normal porque los toros no hirieron a nadie. El sábado, los toros cogieron a 3 personas, hubo 6 heridos y uno de ellos murió. El domingo los toros hirieron a una persona y le rompieron la ropa.

Some clouds in the north of Aragón and in Cataluña some storms. In Galicia and in the north of Spain, it is going to be cloudy with some rains in the west of Galicia.
In the rest of Spain it is going to be sunny and cloudy.
In Galicia, Levante and Baleares it is going to be foggy in the morning.

The temperature is going to be less high and the wind is going to be from the south.

EN BARCO POR EL CANAL DE CASTILLA by Lucia Escudero

TRAVELLING BY BOAT ALONG THE CASTILLIAN CANAL.

We can travel along the Castillian Canal in two boats:
- the boat "Antonio Ulloa" in Medina de Rioseco.
- the boat "San Carlos de Abánades" in Melgar de Fernamental.

The boat "Antonio Ulloa" has three different trips:

1. A trip for one hour (7 kilometres).
From Tuesday to Sunday. We must book in the telephone 983701923.

2. A trip for two hours and a half (14 kilometres).
On Thursday, on Saturday and on Sunday, at 11.00 in the morning with twenty people. We must book in the telephone 983701923.

3. A trip for three hours and a half (16 kilometres) with a glass of wine.
The first Sunday of each month, from April to October, at 10.15 in the morning with 30 people.

The boat "San Carlos de Abánades" will go along the Castillian Canal in Burgos.

ROMERIA DE CABALLOS EN VASDESTILLAS by Isabel Bujidos.

Last weekend there was "The 8th Horse Romería" in Valdestillas in Valladolid.

The street festival was on Saturday 11th and on Sunday 12th July. There were floats, horse races, music and dance. There was hot chocolate with churros at 3.00, on Saturday night. It was a beautiful and interesting weekend for horse-loving people. There were a lot of people and a fantastic atmosphera.

From Dueñas, the family Bujidos Chacón travelled to Valdestillas. Rafael and Nerea Bujidos participated in the lace races against other 34 participants. Rafael Bujidos was 3rd in this race and he received a trophy. Nerea Bujidos rode "Esperado", a beautiful white horse. "Esperado" won a prize to the best horse in Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia) on Saturday.

El pasado fin de semana hubo la "VIII Romería a caballo en Valdestillas" en Valladolid.
La romería fuel el sábado 11 y el domingo 12 de julio. Hubo carrozas, carreras de caballos, música y baile. Hubo chocolate con churros a las 3.00 el sábado por la noche.
Fue un bonito e interesante fin de semana para las personas amantes de los caballos. Había mucha gente y un ambiente fantástico. La comida era estupenda y había juegos para niños.
Desde Dueñas, la familia Bujidos Chacón viajó a Valdestillas. Rafael y Nerea Bujidos participaron en la carrera de cintas contra otros 34 participantes. Rafael Bujidos fue tercero en esta carrera y recibió un trofeo.
Nerea Bujidos montaba a "Esperado", un precioso caballo blanco. "Esperado" ganó un premio al mejor caballo en Aguilar de Campoo (Palenccia) el sábado.
