LA REINA SOFIA inaugurará la villa romana de LA OLMEDA by Nuria Gaisán.

QUEEN SOFIA WILL RE-OPEN LA OLMEDA.



Queen Sofia will re-open the new Roman Villa of La Olmeda in Pedrosa de la Vega next 4th November.

So, the official re-opening will happen seven months after opening the villa and after more that 2 years working on the new facilities.

Before 3rd April 2009, Enrique Martín, President of the Diputación in Palencia, said that he asked the Queen to come for the official opening and that he waited for an answer.

The works in the Roman Villa of La Olmeda cost 9 million euros and it opened on 1st July. Since then, more than 50,000 people visited it in 4 months. Diputación hopes that the Queen will give a bigger boost to this Roman Villa and that more people will come.

LA REINA SOFIA RE-INAUGURARÁ LA OLMEDA. La Reina Sofia inaugurará la nueva Villa Romana de la Olmeda en Pedrosa de la Vega el próximo 4 de noviembre. Así, la apertura oficial ocurrirá siete meses después de la apertura de la villa y después de más de 2 años de trabajo para las nuevas instalaciones. Antes del 3 de abril 2009, Enrique Martín, Presidente de la Diputación de Palencia, dijo que pidió a la Reina que viniera para la inauguración oficial y que esperaba una respuesta. Los trabajos en la Villa Romana de La Olmeda costaron 9 millones de euros y abrió el pasado 1 de julio. Desde entonces, más de 50.000 personas la visitaron en 4 meses. CINCO FINALISTAS EN LAS JUSTAS POÉTICAS DE DUEÑAS by Lydia Aguado

FIVE FINALISTS WILL FIGHT TO GET THE GOLD BOTIJO IN DUEÑAS.

The XLIII Justas Poéticas in Dueñas have 5 finalists. They jury chose the finalists last 17th july.


The poems are "El marfil de las estrellas" (Restituto Núñez de Ciudad Real), "Aún tiembla la esperanza" (Ana Garrido de Madrid), "Boceto de un poema triste (Santiago Redondo de Valladolid), "Fue la razón de ser y fue el caballo" (Feliciano Ramos de Córdoba) y "Pretérito imperfecto" (Esperanza Medina de Aviles).

These five finalists will read their poems at 19.00 on 15th August in the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Dueñas and a jury will choose the winner that will receive the Gold Botijo and some money.

Carmen Quintanilla from Venta de Baños won the local prize with her poem "Tres pausas en el recuerdo". Congratulations to Carmen Quintanilla and to the five finalists.


CINDO FINALISTAS LUCHARÁN PARA CONSEGUIR EL BOTIJO DE ORO EN DUEÑAS. Las XLIII Justas Poéticas en Dueñas tienen 5 finalistas. El jurado eligió a los finalistas el pasado 15 de julio. Estos cinco finalistas leerán sus poemas a las 19.00 horas el 15 de agosto en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción en Dueñas y un jurado elegirá al ganador que recibirá el Botijo de Oro y algún dinero. PEÑA EL MOLINO.

It is one of the oldest peñas and it is more than 43 years old.
The peña El Molino has got 90 members. They are from 3 to 60 years old.
The peña El Molino is behind San Juan Street.
They wear light blue t-shirt with dark blue letters and a dark blue sweatshirt with white letters. They take a blue car with music with them in the parade.
They carried the Virgin in 2003.
They offer tapas and limonada in their cellar.
They wait for you these fiestas!!!

PEÑA EL MOLINO
Es una de las peñas más antiguas y tiene más de 43 años.
La peña El Molino tiene 90 componentes. Tienen entre 3 y 60 años.
La peña El Molino esta situada detrás de la Calle San Juan.
Llevan camiseta azul claro con letras azul oscuro y una sudadera azul oscuro con letras blancas. Llevan un coche azul con musica en el desfile.
Llevaron la Virgen en el 2003.
Ofrecen tapas y limonada en su bodega.
Te esperan estas fiestas.

El Festival de Música lleva 83 actuaciones a 36 pueblos by Nuria Gaisán

THE MUSIC FESTIVAL TAKES 83 PERFORMANCES TO 36 VILLAGES.

The festival will be from 22nd July to 23th August.
The President of the Diputación said that the government will make an effort to keep the Music Festival and that they won't reduce the money despite the crisis.

There are two special activities:
- The Traditional Dance Ballet from Chile that will dance in Aguilar, Guardo, Saldaña and Carrión de los Condes.
- Some concerts to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the death of Haendel.

It is important the performances of the Young Orchestra from Valladolid University too.

The concert in Dueñas will be on 12th August. The concerts in Venta de Baños will be on 31st July and on 13th August.

EL FESTIVAL DE MUSICA LLEVA 83 ACTUACIONES A 36 PUEBLOS.
El festival será entre el 22 de julio y el 23 de agosto.
El Presidente de la Diputación dijo que el gobierno hará un esfuerzo para mantener el Festival de Música y que no reducirán las inversiones a pesar de la crisis.
Hay dos actividades especiales:
- el Ballet Folklorico de Chile que bailará en Aguilar, Saldaña y Carrión de los Condes.
- Algunos conciertos para celebrar el 250 aniversario de la muerte de Haendel.
Son importantes las actuaciones de la orquesta joven de la Universidad de Valladolid.
El concierto en Dueñas será el 12 de agosto. Los conciertos en Venta de Baños serán el 31 de julio y el 13 de agosto.

UN NUEVO BARCO EN EL CANAL by Alicia Masa

A NEW BOAT IN THE CASTILLIAN CANAL

In september , a new boat will travel along the Castillian Canal from Herrera de Pisuerga.

The boat will carry 30 people and will travel for two kilometres from San Andres till the fifth lock. The boat will have electric engines. They will use it for environmental studies and it will do trips for schools and other groups.

This boat will give a big boost to the tourism in this area, especially in Herrera de Pisuerga.

With this, there will be three boats that will travel along the Canal: one in Medina de Rioseco, the second in Melgar de Fernamental and the third in Herrera de Pisuerga.

UN NUEVO BARCO EN EL CANAL.
En septiembre un nuevo barco viajará por el Canal de Castilla desde Herrera de Pisuerga. El barco llevará 30 personas y viajará por dos kilómetros desde San Andrés hasta la quinta esclusa. El barco tendrá motores eléctricos. Lo utilizarán para estudios medioambientales y hará viajes para colegios y otros grupos.
Este barco dará un gran empuje al turismo en esta zona, especialmente en Herrera de Pisuerga.
Con este, habrá tres barcos que viajarán por el Canal: uno en Medina de Rioseco, el segundo en Melgar de Fernamental y el tercero en Herrera de Pisuerga.
