THE VALLEJAS OAK


This oak is about 500 years old. It has a big and strange trunk with two branches. If you want to visit it, you must go to the Pantano de Ruesga near Cervera de Pisuerga.

We walk 1km. from the area of the campsite and we are in the car park E. We walk along the path on the right towards the west and we enter the forest. After 700 metres we walk along a path on the left. We walk 400 metres and we turn right. The oak is there.

This oak is famous in Ruesga.
At Christmas there is a "Nacimiento" in the oak. There was another bigger oak but they cut it. Next, they cut it again in four parts but the parts were too big for the carts.



EL ROBLE DE LAS VALLEJAS
Este roble tiene alrededor de 500 años. Tiene un tronco grande y fuerte con dos ramas.
Si quieres visitarlo, debes ir al Pantano de Ruesga cerca de Cervera de Pisuerga. Caminamos 1km desde el area de camping y estamos en el aparcamiento E. Caminamos por el camino en la derecha hacia el oeste y entramos en el bosque. Después de 700 metros caminamos por un camino a la izquierda. Caminamos 400 metros y giramos a la derecha. El roble esta allí.
Este roble es famoso en Ruesga. En Navidades hay un "Nacimiento" en el roble. Había otro roble más grande pero lo cortaron. Luego lo cortaron otra vez en cuatro partes pero las partes eran muy grandes para los carros.

LA TEJADA DE TOSANDE.

To go to the yew trees in Tosande we take a path in Dehesa de Montejo in the Montaña Palentina.
From the C-626 Road we see the valley of Tosande.
After some fields, the path goes down. We continue walking along a narrow valley. On the left there is a little bridge and there is a path that goes up the mountain. The yew trees are on the top. We continue along the path and we go down the valley. We take the right path and return to the bridge. Then, we return along the path.

The yew tree is a rare tree in nature. In the Montaña Palentina, it is strange to find a lot of yew trees. Here, the yew trees have diametres of 1.5 metres.

Path: 10 km
Time: three and a half hours
When: all the months. In autumn it is easy to find them.




LA TEJADA DE TOSANDE.
Para ir a los tejos de Tosande cogemos un camino en Dehesa de Montejo en la Montaña Palentina. Desde la carretera C-626 vemos el valle de Tosande. Después de algunos campos, el camino baja. Continuamos caminando por un valle estrecho. A la izquierda hay un pequeño puente y hay un camino que sube a la montaña. Los tejos están en la cima. Continuamos por el camino y bajamos al valle. Cogemos el camino a la derecha y volvemos al puente. Luego, volvemos por el camino. El tejo es un árbol raro en la naturaleza. En la Montaña Palentina es raro encontrar muchos tejos juntos. Aquí, los tejos tienen diámetros de 1,5 metros. Camino: 10 km Tiempo: tres horas y media Cuando: todos los meses. En otoño es fácil encontrarles.

THE OLD OAK TREE OF ESTALAYA.

The path to go to the Big Oak Tree of Estalaya begins in Vañes, a village in the Montaña Palentina. There is a path 300 metres before the village, on the right of the road. Go up a hill around the village and then go up again. We go past a gate and the path enters a forest of oaks and beech trees. We go down and then we go up. We take a path on the right and we arrive at the Big Oak Tree.

We can return using this path or we can go toward the right and return around the lake of Requejada.
Information about the Big Oak Tree in Estalaya:

It is called "The Grandfather".
Commun Name "White Oak".
Botanical Name "Quercus Petraea Liebi"
Around the trunk: 9,80 m.
Diameter: 3,17 m.
Age: more than 1.000 years old.

This Old Oak Tree is the biggest and the oldest in the Montaña Palentina and perhaps in the peninsula.

The Oak means strenght. The fruit of the oak, the acorn, fed the Cantabrian villages in the mountains before the romans,

It is a very interesting visit for all the family.


CAMINEMOS AL ROBLÓN DE ESTALAYA.
El camino para ir al Roblón de Estalaya empieza en Vañes, un pueblo en la Montaña Palentina. Hay un camino 300 metros antes del pueblo, a la derecha de la carretera. Sube una colina alrededor del pueblo y luego sube otra vez. Pasamos una valla y el camino entra en un bosque de robles y hayas. Bajamos y luego subimos. Tomamos un camino a la derecha y llegamos al Roblón.
Podemos regresar usando este camino o podemos ir hacia la derecha y regresar alrededor del pantano de Requejada.
Información sobre el Roblón de Estalaya:
Llamado "El Abuelo".
Nombre común "Roble Albar".
Nombre Botánico "Quercus Petraea Liebl".
Alrededor del tronco: 9,80 metros.
Diámetro: 3,17 metros.
Edad: más de 1,000 años.
Este Roblón en Estalaya es el más grande y más antiguo en la Montaña Palentina y quizás en la Península.
El roble significa fuerza. La fruta del roble, la bellota, alimentaba los pueblos cantabros en las montañas antes de los romanos.
Es una visita muy interesante para toda la familia.
